An Important Ruby Necklace by Luke Xu

This was one of the most significant pieces commissioned by a client from Texas, who Mr. Xu encountered at Harry Winston in Las Vegas. The funny story is she didn't purchase anything from him when he was working at HW. It was after Mr. Xu left the company to start his own business, when she reached out to him and expressed an interest for a 10 cts Pigeon Blood Ruby with no heat. The rest was history.
Mr. Xu found a 10 cts PBR from Mozambique with NO HEAT, which at Harry Winston or Van Cleef and Arpels, could easily sell for over 5 million USD at the time. He offered a price the client simply couldn't refuse. She went on to purchase it and have Mr. Xu design a setting for it.
Mr. Xu worked closely with this client and incorporated her own ideas into the design. It took him a whole month on finalizing and finessing the rendering...As the final design required a lot of baguette cut diamonds in specifc shapes and measurements, majority of the stones had be calibrated.
Mr. Xu looked everywhere but couldn't find the right stones in the market. So he turned to his Israeli friend who has a diamond manufacturing faclity in Tel Aviv, she agreed to help him out by offering him an assortment of top quality baguetttes, randing in D-E color, VVS-IF in clarity, originally reserved for a renowned watch brand. After an entire month of recutting and repolishing, the stones were finally ready.
Long story short, when the piece was delivered in 2018 to Texas, the client was really happy with how it turned out. And she wore the piece on many occasions.
In 2022, the client wanted a more glamorous diamond necklace to go with the pendant, so Mr. Xu created a necklace weighing a total of over 30 carats of colorless baguettes, 40 points each, in D-F color, VS-VVS in clarity. When the piece was finished in Las Vegas, Nevada, the whole workshop went quiet as it was simply too stunning.
The piece has remained the way it is ever since.
